Education and Capacity Building

DPhil or MPhil Opportunities in Ageing

  How to Apply

Due to the multidisciplinarity of the OIA, DPhil students are admitted through a range of University Departments. It is thus important that potential applicants for graduate work in the first instance contact our Graduate Co-ordinator Dr. George Leeson to ask advice on their application to the OIA:

Current DPhil Students with an Interest in Ageing

The DPhil Support Group (DSG) at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing is an informal gathering amongst DPhil (and some MSc) students across disciplines and University departments who are interested in issues related to Ageing. DSG is organized and run by students, based on the needs of students.

The main purpose of the group is to exchange research ideas and experiences, as well as to share any concerns one might have regarding his/her research in a supportive and friendly environment. As members of DSG are coming from diverse backgrounds and different departments, we have a lively and exciting community.

It is an evolving group – other than two main presentation sessions per term where we present the progress of our work and receive feedback from each other, we also have a weekly reading group for those who want to participate during the vacations.

DSG is currently in the process of producing an informal guidebook for DPhil students at OIA. In the future, we plan to have research methods workshops tailored to our needs.
