Biosketch
Professor Wenger received her Ph.D in social anthropology from the University of California Berkeley in 1976. She has been a full-time researcher since 1971 until retirement in 2002. She is currently co-investigator in a Canadian study of care networks of old people at the end of life, undertaken by the University of Alberta. From 1978-1999 Professor Wenger conducted a longitudinal study of the ageing process and informal support in rural Wales, funded by the UK Department of Health. From 2002-2004 she was director and co-ordinator of a 6-nation European Study of Adult Well-being, funded by EU. From 2000-2003 she was director and co-ordinator of a study of support networks of older Gujaratis, Punjabis and Sylhetis in the UK and in South Asia, funded by the UK Department of International Development (DFID).
