Biosketch
Dr. Eyetsemitan is professor of psychology, the current chair of the social sciences division (comprising the departments of psychology, sociology and political sciences) and co-ordinator of the gerontology minor programme at McKendree College in Illinois, USA. After obtaining his Ph.D at the university of Jos, Nigeria, Dr Eyetsemitan did post-doctoral work in gerontology at the University of Michigan where he also was a visiting associate professor in African and Afro-American Studies. His publications have appeared in prominent journals and his co-authored book on "Aging and Adult Development in Developing Societies: Applying Western Theories and Concepts" discusses the appropriateness or inappropriateness of applying key Western theories and concepts in gerontology to non-Western societies, with implications for both researchers and practitioners.
