Biosketch
Dr Tipping is a Specialist Geriatrician and Physician in full-time private academic practice at the University of the Witwatersrand Donald Gordon Medical Centre and Head of the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand. He is a registered specialist Geriatrician and completed all of his training in Africa (at the University of Cape Town). He is currently establishing Geriatric Medicine in Gauteng Province in South Africa.

- All areas of Geriatric Medicine training and education including that of non-medical doctor health personnel
Current/planned research
- At present the establishing of hopefully the largest geriatric in-patient unit in South Africa at the Helen Joseph Hospital is underway. Once this is completed collecting baseline data will be an initial project
Current engagement in capacity building
- A comprehensive programme of geriatric care for in-patients in the currently being established geriatric unit at the Helen Joseph Hospital which unit will allow training of sub-specialists in Geriatric Medicine
