Challenges of ageing for the immigrants from India in the UK

Mrs Atreyi Majumdar, Associate Professor in Economics at the University of Delhi will be visiting the Institute as an academic visitor for two weeks commencing 13th September.

Atreyi’s research programme focusses on the following areas of Economics and Demography:

  1. Economic growth, development, structural transformation and equity in India
  2. Nature and causes of migration to cities in India including topics in pattern and pace of urban growth and informal sector employment
  3. The impact of globalisation and unemployment on internal migration, urbanization and international migration with special reference to India
  4. Comparative analyses of ageing issues in urban India and UK
  5. Intangible costs and benefits of international migration
