Intersections of race and age(ing) at the twenty-first century English seaside

Dr Daniel Burdsey, Deputy Head of Research, School of Sport and Service Management, University of Brighton, UK

Dr Daniel Burdsey is Assistant Head of Research in the School of Sport and Service Management. His research focuses on the areas of race, ethnicity and popular culture. It is linked fundamentally by its central theme of qualitative observational research on ethnicities as lived in public cultures/spaces, and emphasises notions of social justice, sociological intervention and academic activism. Much of his work to date has focused on British Asian experiences in sport (especially football). His more recent interests lie both within the sociology of the seaside and "new" spaces of multiculture.
