Strengthening inclusion in global health governance

Taking the example of the COVID-19 pandemic, this panel discussion raises the question whether young and older people can strengthen their participation and inclusion in global health governance. This question shall be addressed in a multi- and interdisciplinary dimension, encompassing International Law and Politics, and Gerontology, and in an intergenerational dimension, comprising young and older people.

Research shows increasingly that young and older people are experiencing distinct grievances in the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic seems to enforce existing inequalities. Can both groups, however, learn from one another to understand and challenge patterns of marginalisation? Which parallels can be drawn from existing activities of young and older people in the pandemic, which differences can be observed? Which intergenerational conflicts can we monitor in the COVID-19 pandemic? In addition, questions arise on an analytical level too. Which parallels can be drawn from existing research on young and older people (in the pandemic)? Which differences must be retained?
