About the Speaker:

Dr Janet Ananias, University of Namibia

Dr Janet Ananias holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work from the North West University, Potchefstroom campus, South Africa. Her research interest includes social gerontology, mental health, intergenerational care, child neglect/child fosterage, substance abuse, social welfare law and social work groups. Janet was a co-editor for the 2018 Symposium Proceedings of the International Association for Social Work with Groups 40th International Symposium. She serves as a member of the editorial board of the Southern African Journal of Social Work and Social Development. She served as the President of the Namibia Social Workers Association (NASWA) from 2008 to 2010, and was the Head of Department of Social Work from 2015 to 2021. She is a member of the African Research on Aging Network (AFRAN), a member of the Care for Older Persons in Southern African Network (COPSAN).
