Research in Progress: Asset Mapping for the Identification of County-Wide Resources Supporting Older Adults

About the Speakers

Dr Kate Bancroft, University of Oxford

Kate is a Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing.

Before joining Oxford, she worked as a researcher within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Public Policy at King’s College London. During her tenure there, she also served as the Deputy Director of the PhD Applied Public Policy programme, playing a crucial role in shaping its academic and research direction.

Kate has a longstanding research interest in the intersections of health, sport, and physical activity, with a particular focus on gender, which has been a driving force throughout her career.

Kate is currently working on the EPIC Networks project, funded by the Helen Hamlyn Trust, which focuses on healthy ageing and community connections. This multi-disciplinary, cross-sector project unites inputs from medical statistics, health economics, sociology, anthropology, and design. It is proof-of-concept and feasibility research, aiming to determine whether a new model is generalisable, scalable, and sustainable, using a diversity of socio-economic and geographic settings across Oxfordshire for pilot testing.

Dr Hannah Grove, University of Oxford

Hannah is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Global Centre on Healthcare & Urbanisation, at Kellogg College, University of Oxford.

Hannah is an urban health geographer and planner, with an interest in how social and physical environments influence health and wellbeing throughout the lifecourse. With experience that bridges academia, policy, and practice, she is interested in how we can co-design environments and communities that promote a good quality of life, whilst recognising and addressing existing socio-spatial injustices and health inequities. Hannah’s research interests span urban health and social geography, healthy urban planning, critical social policy, and geographies of ageing. She is passionate about innovative methods and methodologies including the use of qualitative, geo-spatial and community-based participatory approaches to understand lived experiences of place.
