Carers@work. Interviews with working carers
Report briefing

Kate Hamblin and Andreas Hoff

The Carers@Work project sought to understand the challenges faced by working carers, and how employers can facilitate the reconciliation of these two areas. We conducted interviews both with working carers and employers identified in the literature as exhibiting ‘best practice’ in terms of their policies for carers. The project also aimed to identify transferable, innovative solutions that promote the reconciliation of work and care in four EU-member states: Germany; Italy; Poland; United Kingdom.
This summary report provides an introduction to the sample before focusing on the impact of care on work, the support the UK working carers’ used and their suggestions for improvement, as well as cases of employer best practice.
