Professor Sarah Harper comments on rising affluence, increased consumption and overpopulation in a recent article “How to profit as the world gets fuller, richer and older” published in the MoneyWeek.
“The debate is shifting away from overpopulation to population and consumption. Countries in the northern hemisphere need to reduce their consumption to allow countries in the south (the poorer nations) – particularly in Africa – to raise their consumption to levels that are appropriate for the 21st century”, said Harper.
