Biosketch

Dr. Clausen received his MD in 2000, and his PhD in 2005 from the University of Oslo. His PhD research involved a survey on the health, nutrition and lifestyle status of older people in Botswana, and his thesis was titled: “Old age and ageing in Botswana. Health, Nutrition and Lifestyle – Findings from a national survey”

• Ageing and functioning (both mental and physical) in Africa
• Nutrition, Lifestyle (including tobacco and alcohol) and chronic diseases of old age

Key methodological skills

• Population based surveys, clinical examinations in the field in Africa
• Epidemiological methods
