Biosketch

Prof. Lekalakala-Mokgele is involved in postgraduate programme teaching: Research Methods for Masters Students; the PhD seminar and supervision (both Masters and PhD). Her interests and expertise include Community Based Education, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Gerontological Nursing.

  • Training of elderly carers
  • HIV/AIDS preventative strategies for the older person

  • Both quantitative and qualitative research designs

Current/planned research

  • Developing a culturally relevant model of care for African older persons
  • Conducting a situational analysis on the needs of nurses regarding health care of the older person

Current engagement in capacity building

  • Member of the Parish Nursing community initiative which deals with care of the older person
  • Involved with the local day care centre which involves a group of grandmothers where different needs are identified and attempts are made to resolve social and health issues
