Biosketch

Dr. David Nyamwaya is an educationist and medical anthropologist with a Phd from Cambridge University. He specialises in health promotion, with a focus on policy development, advocacy and social mobilization. He has worked as a water and sanitation officer for the Eastern and Southern Africa Office of UNICEF and as a project officer with the World Bank in East Africa.

For over ten years he worked for AMREF headquarters in Nairobi, where he was the director for health promotion and later the head of programme operations.

Since 1999, Dr Nyamwaya has been the Regional adviser for health promotion at WHO AFRO. For the last four years he has been providing technical oversight for ageing programme in AFRO. He has researched and written extensively on a wide range of health and developedment topics. He has also taught in Universities in Africa and Sweden.
