Dr Nyoni holds a BEd degree in Education, from the Bindura University of Science Education and an MSc degree in Population Studies from the Bindura University of Science Education; and D Phil in Sociology, from the University of South Africa.
Currently, Chamunogwa is the Chairperson for the Department of Social Work at Bindura University of Science Education.
