Biosketch
 

Mr. Powell has over twelve years of experience as a researcher in mental, sexual/reproductive health and palliative care as well as expertise in monitoring and evaluation. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals which include Health Policy, Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology, the Journal of Mental Health, the British Medical Journal, Health Care for Women International, Primary Care Psychiatry, Psychology and Psychotherapy, the Journal of Biosocial Sciences and the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management.

• Palliative care and the aged
• The components of effective palliative care
• Mental ill-health among palliative care patients

• PEPFAR- funded longitudinal outcome evaluation of palliative care in Uganda and Kenya
• A pilot study in Uganda and Kenya investigating the opportunities for integrating palliative care into existing services for the aged.
