Nicky McDonald is an Academic Visitor at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing (07th - 30th June 2016).

Nicky is the Senior Strategic Adviser at Nelson City Council, a local authority in the South Island of New Zealand. She is the recipient of a Winston Churchill Fellowship which is funding her visit the Institute during June 2016. She will be investigating the role of local government in responding to the ageing demographic and researching innovative policy approaches.

Prior to entering local government Nicky was a New Zealand diplomat with postings as First Secretary to the United Nations, Counsellor covering regional issues at the New Zealand High Commission in Fiji and Deputy High Commissioner in India.
