Cen Chen was a Visiting Academic at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing from 1st September 2017 to  31st August 2018.

She is currently a research associate at the school of economics at Nankai University, China. She received a Ph.D. in economics from NanKai University in June 2016. She was a research intern at the UNU-WIDER (United Nations University, World Institute for Development Economics Research).

Her research focuses almost exclusively on China and is concerned with income distribution and inequality, with an emphasis on wage equality, labor market and Foreign Direct Investment. She has published several papers at the top academic journals of China. While in Oxford, her research will focus on the effects of population ageing on wage inequality.
