Sebastian Hanika

Sebastian Hanika was a visiting student at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing from 16th November 2020 to 12 March 2022.

Sebastian is based in Denmark where he is a master’s student in Human Geography at the University of Copenhagen. His academic focus lies on urban economics, uneven regional development, and climate change adaptation.

Based on his background in spatial sciences, his current research interest lies in the economic impact of population ageing on small and medium-sized towns, especially related to local labour market development, commuting and post-retirement employment.

Sebastian obtained his bachelor’s degree in Geography and Economics at the Humboldt – University in Berlin where he also took part in the NEURUS Fellows programme at the University of California, Irvine.
