Jinlong Lin was a Visiting Student at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, from August 2024 to February 2025. He is a Ph.D. candidate in Marxist Theory at Tsinghua University in China. He earned his Master’s degree in Demography from the Institute of Population Research at Peking University and a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Studies from Jilin University. Additionally, from May to August 2024, he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Sydney, Australia.

Jinlong’s academic background spans multiple disciplines such as demography, epidemiology, economics, sociology, statistics, philosophy, and Marxism. His primary research interests are in population science and philosophy, historical materialism and contemporary society, and the methodology of interdisciplinary knowledge production.

Although Jinlong's academic interests are broad, his current main focus is on exploring and developing population philosophy to enrich the boundaries and content of population theory. During his visit, Jinlong plans to investigate the relationship between population variables and human civilization and history, as well as the potential connections between population aging and critiques of modernity.
