Research interests

Dr. Hein de Haas's research focuses on on the links between migration and processes of development and globalisation. He did extensive fieldwork in the Middle East and North Africa and, particularly, Morocco.

In August 2015 Hein left IMI and was appointed Professor of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam, where he has a special focus on the study of migration and social cohesion, in the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.
