Yige Yin was a visiting student at the Oxford Institute of Population Aging from September 2024 to March 2025.
She is currently in her fourth year of pursuing a Ph.D. in the School of Psychological and Cognitive Sciences at Peking University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Department of Psychology at Beijing Normal University.
Yige’s research centers on the self and meaning in life, utilizing cross-sectional, longitudinal, and experimental designs, as well as big-data analytics. During her visit to Oxford, she aims to deepen her understanding of qualitative research methods and analytics suited for secondary data from large-scale surveys. Her goal is to explore how self-perceptions change with age and to examine ways to enhance the engagement of older adults in an increasingly fast-paced society, considering both the perspectives of the elderly and societal attitudes toward them.
