Guilan Xie

Visiting Student

Guilan Xie was a Visiting Student at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing from September 2024 to March 2025. She is a PhD candidate of Demography at Peking University. She obtained the Bachelor’s degree in nursing at Peking University and the Master’s degree in maternal, child and adolescent health at Xi’an Jiaotong University.

Her previous research included environmental health effects and gene-environment interaction. Her current research interests focus on health promotion from the life course perspective, especially in the prevention of chronic diseases and disabilities.

During her stay at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, she plans to figure out the early life influencing factors of subsequent chronic diseases, which will be beneficial to make targeted interventions to prevent chronic diseases at early stages.
