Haejin Chang is a Visiting Academic at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing from February 2026 to February 2027. She is a Professor in the Department of Design at Sungshin Women’s University, Seoul, Korea. She holds a BFA, an MFA, and a Doctor of Design from Seoul National University.
Building on her expertise in visual communication design, experience design, and public design, Professor Chang’s research has evolved to examine inclusive design as a governance-oriented framework in response to global population ageing. Her recent work includes a paper titled 'International Comparison of Universal Design Policies' (2023), and she is a co-inventor of internationally registered medical device patents (US, EU, KR), reflecting her focus on translating inclusive design research into practical healthcare solutions.
Beyond academia, she has provided policy and design advisory expertise to national, municipal, and local institutions in Korea, including advising the National Museum of Korea and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Through invited lectures and policy engagements for organizations such as KODDI (Korea Disability Policy Development Institute), she contributes to public-sector dialogue on inclusive environments and accessibility across Korea’s cultural and public institutions.
During her academic visit to the University of Oxford, Professor Chang will further develop her international comparative research on inclusive design in ageing and super-ageing societies, strengthening the integration of design research with global population ageing scholarship.
