Alba Vivas is a PhD candidate at CEU San Pablo University (Madrid, Spain) and Head of the University's Scientific Culture Unit. She graduated with top honours in Audiovisual Communication, receiving the Special End-of-Degree Award for the highest academic achievement and the First Prize for her final degree project. During her studies, she was also awarded the Madrid Academic Excellence Scholarship on three consecutive occasions.
Her research focuses on the intersection of ageing, digital inequality, and media consumption. Specifically, she investigates how older adults use audiovisual media in their everyday lives and how such media may contribute to emotional companionship, social connection, and the experience of loneliness in later life.
With a background in Communication and Media Studies, she is particularly interested in the emotional and social dimensions of media use, bringing together perspectives from communication studies, ageing research, and digital inclusion.
At her home institution, Alba teaches Strategic Online Communication, Television and Video, Consumer Behaviour, and Principles of Advertising. Alongside her academic work, she is also a percussionist in a symphonic orchestra.
