Darrell Bricker and Sarah Harper will discuss the recent population trends, what it means for our planet and what we can do to prevent population collapse. Darrell is the current Global CEO of Ipsos Public Affairs, a polling, research, marketing, and analysis company. Prior to joining Ipsos, Darrell was the Director of Public Opinion Research in the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from Carleton University. He is the coauthor of 7 books including 'Empty Planet: The Shock of Global Population Decline'.
Sarah is the Clore Professor of Gerontology at the University of Oxford, a Fellow at University College, and a Director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing. She currently directs the Oxford Programme on Fertility, Education and Environment. Her current research on demographic change addresses two broad questions: the impact of falling fertility and increasing life expectancy, and the interaction of population change with the environment.
