UKRI: Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund Healthy Ageing Workshop
The healthy ageing challenge will support UK government’s Ageing Society Grand Challenge to ensure people can enjoy at least 5 extra healthy, independent years of life by 2035, while narrowing the gap between the experiences of the richest and poorest.
The aim of this challenge is to enable businesses, including social enterprises, to develop and deliver products, services and business models that will be adopted at scale which support people as they age. This will allow people to remain active, productive, independent and socially connected across generations for as long as possible.
Workshop Aim and Objectives
The workshop aims to provide interested bidders from academia, business, public sector organisations, charities, accelerators and investors:
- a summary of the key issues, problems and challenges that arise in designing, implementing and evaluating successful projects and programmes
- an understanding the use or adoption of innovative technology at scale in settings and contexts relevant to the promotion of healthy ageing
The objectives and outcomes are
- mutual understanding of perspectives of the diverse stakeholders
- increased networking leading to potential collaborations
- development of new innovative research and development projects and programmes in this space
Two reports, commissioned by UKRI, have fed into the Programme development and will provide a focus for the morning and afternoon sessions respectively
- Oxford University’s Institute for Population Ageing review of previous government funded initiatives in healthy ageing
- The Centre for Ageing Better and Big Society Capital review of Healthy Ageing Innovation and Investment in the UK
Convenor: Professor Sarah Harper, University of Oxford
