About the Speakers
Professor Tanja Bastia, University of Manchester and Claudia Calsina, Universidad de San Simon, Bolivia
Professor Tanja Bastia is a leading academic at the Global Development Institute (GDI) at the University of Manchester specializing in international development, particularly migration, mobility, and social change, focusing on transnational migration, power dynamics, and intersectionality, and holds roles like Director of the Doctoral College. She conducts extensive ethnographic research, notably with Bolivian migrants, and publishes widely on migration and development, often exploring themes like gender, ageing, and the impacts of COVID-19 on migrant communities.
Claudia Calsina currently pursuing a Doctorate in Social Sciences and Humanities, carried out by the Universidad Mayor de San Simón (UMSS) and the School of Global Studies (SGS) of the University of Gothenburg (GU).
