Kenneth Howse speaks at IARU congress on Ageing, Copenhagen


Exhibition 'An Ageing Wolrd' - IARU Congress, CopenhaghenThe International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) held its first international congress on Ageing, Longevity and Health in Copenhagen from 5th to 7th October.  The conference, which was sponsored by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Copenhagen and recently established Centre for Healthy Aging (CHEA), brought together researchers from a wide range of disciples looking at various different themes including:

•    Molecular Aging, Neuro- and Muscle Degeneration
•    Life Course and Aging
•    Aging Populations
•    Aging and Evolution.


The aims of the congress were to give researchers from the IARU Ageing, Longevity and Health network, as well as other leading scientists in the field, an opportunity to exchange ideas and findings, and also to explore opportunities for state-of-the-art multidisciplinary research between the IARU institutions in the field of aging.

Kenneth Howse, James Martin Senior Research Fellow at OIA, made a presentation to the conference on the Health Policy Challenges of Population Ageing summarising work comparing the impact of population ageing on healthcare systems in several of the IARU countries.
