Professor Sarah Harper discussed employment trends among older workers in an article published by The I Paper on 1 February 2026.
She argued that combining the experience and knowledge of mature workers with younger employees can boost overall productivity.
“While there still remain myths and stereotypical views that older people are unproductive, current data suggests that the over 55s now have higher productivity than those workers under 25,” said Harper.
