Demography of Ageing in Developing and Developed Countries


This Thursday, 17th August, Dr George Leeson (Co-Director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing) will be addressing the topic of Demography of Ageing in Developing Countries while Oxford colleague Professor David Coleman (Professor of Demography & Research Associate of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing) will be looking at Demography of Ageing in Developed Countries.

These lectures are part of the  International Association for Official Statistics (IAOS) biennial conference taking place in Belfast, Northern Ireland from 17-19 August 2011.  The theme of the conference is "The Demography of Ageing and Official Statistics". The conference will have specific reference to the extent and characteristics of population ageing and its impact on all aspects of social and economic policy across the World.

Other prominent speakers include: Dr Richard Suzman ( US National Institute on Aging), Dr Wan He (US Census Bureau), Guy Goodwin (Health and Regional Analysis, UK Office for National Statistics) and Professor James Banks (UK Institute for Fiscal Studies)
