Key Dataset Stakeholders Meet

On Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th June 2012, key stakeholders of global ageing datasets sponsored by the National Institute of Aging met at Lady Margaret Hall at the University of Oxford.  The event was generously supported by the RAND Corporation and hosted by the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing.

Participants from Australia, Israel, Nigeria, Spain, The Netherlands, Scotland, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, USA, Sweden, Australia, Japan and the UK were welcomed to the workshop.  The workshop provided a prime opportunity to share updates on key datasets listed below, identified areas for mutual collaboration and provided updates on current literature and demographic trends.  A reception at the Pitt Rivers Museum, a walking tour and an evening of entertainment exposed delegates to the historic delights of Oxford and enabled them to network and enjoy themselves.

On behalf of the members of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, I would like to expressly thank Michael Hurd from the RAND Corporation who made this workshop possible, the speakers who shared their knowledge and expertise, the presenters who so beautifully illustrated the application of this data into specific research topics and the participants for their enthusiasm and keen interest in the entire programme.

We look forward to continuing this dialogue and undertaking future collaborations which will lead to exciting new directions and innovative programmes in global ageing through the translation of information collected from these key datasets.
