China and Europe: challenges for the future ?

Europaeum 2016 Summer School ‘China and Europe: challenges for the future?’ took place on 1-6 September 2016 at the new China Centre at St Hugh’s College, University of Oxford. China and Europe form two large blocs on the global landscape. They face many similar challenges in the 21st century – political legitimacy, urban growth, ageing populations, corruption, economic and social development – and the question of international co-existence in a world order. These questions formed the heart of an exciting week-long summer school with leading international experts from Europe and China stimulating discussions, working groups, debates and panels. Dr George Leeson spoke on ‘The Challenges, Opportunities and Policy Implications of Ageing Populations in Europe’.
