Ageing workforce and occupational therapy | George Leeson, Royal College of Physicians, London


In a keynote presentation at  the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Dr George Leeson addressed the ageing of the British workforce and the challenges this will present to occupational physicians in the future.   The meeting, held at the Royal College of Physicians, London, 28 May 2014, was entitled ‘Back to the Future’, with a view to examining past and current changes to the demographic makeup of the work force, and projections for the future.   Other speakers included Dr Sally Davies, President Elect of the Medical Women’s Federation, and Professor Sir Anthony Newman Taylor, Professor of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Imperial College London, who delivered the biennial McCallum lecture on Bradford Hill, one of the first clinician to demonstrate a link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer.
